“Epicenter Art Laboratory“, created by artist Ashot Avagyan in 2014, is an open-air space for arts. Designed to resemble an ancient megalithic cromlech (a circular stone arrangement), it blends contemporary art with ancient inspiration, bridging those two together. For Avagyan the site is not only an artistic venue but also a sacred space. As he likes to emphasize, it is the center of universe, the place where cosmic vertical meets the cosmic horizontal.
The laboratory is a dynamic, ever-evolving artwork itself, where Avagyan conducts his performances and artistic experiments which are often collaborations with his students and fellow artists.
